Nevada City, CA – Supervisor Heidi Hall was selected chair and Lisa Swarthout was selected vice chair of the Board of Supervisors Tuesday. The two will hold these positions one year.

Hall represents District 1, which includes Nevada City and the unincorporated areas of Banner Mountain, Cascade Shores, Deer Creek, and the Highway 174 corridor. She has served on the Board since 2017 and was recently sworn in to her third term in office. This will be her second time serving as Board of Supervisors chair.
“I’m looking at 2025 as the Year of Youth and how the work we do now can empower generations for decades to come,” Hall said. “In challenging times, it’s our responsibility to support and uplift our youth and families. We will focus on critical issues like youth workforce development, leadership opportunities, housing and food security, mental health, and more to ensure their success for years to come.”
The chair of the Board of Supervisors is responsible for running Board meetings, approving the meeting agendas, establishing committee appointments, presiding over ceremonies, and more.
Swarthout represents District 3, which includes Grass Valley, the Brunswick Basin, Cedar Ridge, Squirrel Creek, and the La Barr Meadows / Allison Ranch Road neighborhoods. She has served on the Board since 2023.
Supervisors also recognized District 5 Supervisor Hardy Bullock for his leadership in serving as the 2024 chair.
Bullock reflected on the County’s accomplishments over the past year, adding, “It was an honor to represent our County and collaborate with constituents across the region. I learned a lot and was humbled by the challenges we faced, but we also achieved a lot as a team. I want to thank everyone for supporting me and helping us make the best decisions we can to support our county.”
