Nevada City, Calif. — Following the recent transition of operational control of the Miners Foundry Cultural Center (Foundry) to the City of Nevada City, a newly formed City Council Committee is hosting a facility tour and listening session for the community from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 6, 2025, at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center, 325 Spring St., Nevada City, CA 95959. The City encourages the community to tour the historic venue, learn about its capabilities, and provide valuable input on future programming and community use.
The input opportunity comes after the Feb. 13, approval by both the Foundry Board and Nevada City Council for the City to assume operational control of the Miners Foundry, ensuring the preservation of this vital cultural institution while expanding access to its facilities and programs.
“We want the community to be active participants in shaping the future of the Miners Foundry,” said Mayor Gary Petersen. “While we are committed to preserving the Foundry’s rich history, we also see tremendous potential for expanding its role as a community resource. I encourage anyone that lives in Nevada City to come and contribute their ideas and vision.”
During the session, there will be guided tours showcasing the venue’s unique spaces, including the Stone Hall, Osborn/Woods Hall, and other functional areas. In addition to addressing your questions and gathering your feedback; Mayor Petersen and City Councilmember Ceci as the City Council committee assigned to the Miners Foundry; City Manager Sean Grayson and Assistant City Manager Lon Peterson; as well as Miner’s Foundry Cultural Center and City staff will be on hand for a behind the scenes look at what the facility and the people that operate it do for our community.
“The Miners Foundry has been the go-to event destination of Nevada City for generations,” said City Manager Sean Grayson. “As we embark on this new chapter, we’re dedicated to honoring its legacy while thoughtfully expanding the ways it serves our community. Public input is essential to this process.”
Attendees will have multiple opportunities to provide feedback, including comment cards, interactive displays, and direct conversations with City officials and staff. Refreshments will be served, and all ages are welcome to attend.
For those unable to attend in person, an online survey will be available on the City’s website from March 6 to March 20.
