PLACER COUNTY – Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane closures in multiple locations along State Route 49 (SR 49) as several improvement projects continue in Placer County.


Here is the breakdown for the week:
Safety Barrier Project
- Southbound between Lone Star Road and Lorenson Road/Florence Lane
- Various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, August 17 through Thursday, August 21.
- Various lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21
- Southbound SR 49 at Lone Star Road is reduced to a single lane until further notice.
- Northbound between Lorenson Road/Florence Lane and Lone Star Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 3 a.m. Friday, August 22.
- Northbound at Lorenson Road/Florence Lane, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, August 17 through Wednesday, August 20. Additional work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21.
- Northbound and southbound extended lane closure at Lorenson Road/Florence Lane is scheduled starting at 6 a.m. Friday, August 22 through the morning of Monday, August 25. Additional details will be released next week. During this time one lane will be open in each direction.
Sidewalk Gap Closure Project
- Northbound between Elm Avenue and Palm Avenue, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21. Work is scheduled to end for the week by 7 a.m. Friday, August 22.
- Northbound between Education Street and Dry Creek Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21. Work is scheduled to end for the week by 7 a.m. Friday, August 22.
- Southbound between Dry Creek Road and Luther Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21. Work is scheduled to end for the week by 7 a.m. Friday, August 22.
- Southbound between Luther Road and Elm Avenue, various lane closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21. Work is scheduled to end for the week by 7 a.m. Friday, August 22.
The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers’ safety. Motorists may experience delays between 10 to 15 minutes, depending on traffic volumes. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
