Grass Valley, Calif. — Nevada County residents can turn used motor oil filters into savings at the County’s upcoming Oil Filter Exchange event.
Bring in a used oil filter and receive a $15 voucher toward the purchase of a new one. Exchanges and purchases must be completed during the same visit. Residents may recycle up to two used filters each, while supplies last.
A limited number of free oil change kits — including a funnel, oil pan and jug — will also be available (limit one per household).
Residents can also bring used household batteries for recycling at Nevada County’s booth during the oil filter exchange. Accepted batteries include A, AA, AAA, C, D and button-type batteries.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 742 Freeman Lane in Grass Valley, next to Raley’s. Open to Nevada County residents only.
Commercial customers and out-of-county residents are not eligible.
Can’t make it? Another Oil Filter Exchange event is already scheduled for Aug. 29, offering another opportunity to recycle used filters safely and responsibly.
The program is funded through CalRecycle’s Oil Payment Program Grant, which supports local efforts to expand oil recycling and protect the environment.
