Nevada City Calf. – Community members are invited to step behind the scenes of the elections process during a Ballot Processing Center Open House on Thursday, May 21.

Ballot Processing Center

The event is scheduled 4-7 p.m. at the Ballot Processing Center, 12740 Loma Rica Drive, Grass Valley not far from the Nevada County Airport.

The open house offers an opportunity for the public to see exactly what happens to a ballot after it is cast โ€” from intake to counting โ€” ahead of the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

Visitors will be able to:

  • See how vote-by-mail ballots are received and processed
  • Learn how signatures are verified to protect each voterโ€™s ballot
  • Observe how ballots are scanned and counted using secure systems
  • Get a preview of how election night results are reported
  • Ask questions and learn more about voter registration, voting options and key election dates

โ€œThis is a chance for the public to see the care, accuracy and security that go into every step of the elections process,โ€ said Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters Armando Salud-Ambriz. โ€œWe want voters to feel informed and confident about how their vote is handled.โ€
