The Nevada County STEAM Expo 2026 proudly showcased the creativity, curiosity, and innovation of students from across Nevada County through hands-on scientific inquiry, engineering design, visual arts, media arts, and project-based learning experiences.
Science & Engineering Showcase
This year’s Science & Engineering Expo featured:
- 31 student projects
- 45 student participants
- 15 collaborative teams
Students from Mount Saint Mary Academy, Magnolia Intermediate School, Cottage Hill Elementary School, Deer Creek Elementary School, Clear Creek School, and Nevada Union High School explored topics connected to chemistry, environmental science, medicine, renewable energy, behavioral science, and engineering design.
Highlighted projects included:

- Milk into Plastic
- The Heart of the Matter
- Carbohydrates and Blood Sugar
- Positive Vibes Only
Arts Showcase
The 2026 Arts Showcase featured:
- 24 student projects
- 24 student artists
- Participation from schools across Nevada County including Nevada City School of the Arts, Nevada Union High School, Mount Saint Mary Academy, and Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning.
Student artists showcased work across drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital media, printmaking, animation, and performing arts.
Highlighted projects included:

- Blue Eyes
- For Grammy
- The Convenient Closet
- Raven Canopic Jar
Many projects across both showcases reflected strong alignment to California State Standards through inquiry, creative expression, engineering practices, design thinking, communication, and real-world problem solving.
The Nevada County STEAM Expo continues to inspire students to think critically, create boldly, and connect their learning to the world around them through science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
