GRASS VALLEY, Calif. – June 26, 2026 – Tim Giroux, a business leader and community member rooted in the Auburn/Grass Valley area since 1999, today announced his candidacy for Trustee of the Nevada Joint Union High School District. The election will be held in November 2026.
Giroux brings more than 40 years of business ownership to the race. After practicing dentistry alongside his wife in Scottsdale, Arizona, for 17 years, the couple moved to California, where Giroux became a licensed real estate broker and built Western Practice Sales into one of the largest dental brokerage businesses in California and on the West Coast.
“I understand budgets, setting clear goals, and what it takes to build something successful that lasts,” said Giroux. “I would be honored to serve our community and help ensure every student in the Nevada Joint Union High School District receives an excellent education in a safe, supportive environment.”
Giroux’s connection to local schools is personal. Both of his children attended local schools, served as ASB presidents at Bear River High School, and went on to graduate from UCLA. He is now a grandfather of two, with a third grandchild on the way, and his grandchildren plan to attend Bear River High School. He credits his late mother, a special education teacher, with instilling in him the value of giving back and the belief that every student deserves the chance to reach their full potential.
A Platform Focused on Every Student
Giroux is campaigning on a set of clear priorities for the district:
- Student Safety First – Every student deserves a physically safe campus, a disciplined learning environment, and clear consequences for threats, violence, bullying, and chronic disruption.
- Education, Not Indoctrination – Schools should stay focused on academics, character, citizenship, and real opportunity, with critical thinking as an essential skill.
- Career & College Pathways – Vocational education, trades, and technical training deserve to be valued alongside university preparation. College is not the only successful path.
- Parental Rights & Transparency – Families have a fundamental right to know what is being taught and what materials are used in their children’s education.
- Academic Excellence – Reading, writing, math, science, and civics should be prioritized over fads and policies that lower expectations.
- Merit, Character & Discipline – Students should succeed through effort, responsibility, and achievement, with teachers supported in maintaining orderly classrooms.
- Fiscal Responsibility – Every district dollar should support student outcomes, safe schools, and core classroom instruction, with waste and administrative bloat challenged.
“College is not the only path to a meaningful career,” Giroux added. “Some of my closest friends and most successful colleagues built excellent lives in the trades. The earlier we recognize each person’s unique strengths and help them focus on those, the more successful our community becomes.”
A grandfather committed to future generations, Giroux says his motivation is straightforward: “I want to make sure our schools are excellent when my grandchildren get there. I hope to bring guidance, common sense, and a deep commitment to help further the mission of success, compassion, and encouragement for every student in our district.”
