Itโs Election Day, November 3, 2026. A woman walks into the Vote Center at the Fairgrounds and deposits her ballot in the white ballot box just inside the door. A volunteer sheโs seen many times over the years thanks her and hands her an I Voted sticker. She asks for one more so she can give one to each of her children. An example? A lesson? A piece of democracy the children will inherit?
What she has just done only took a few minutes, but it is one of the most powerful actions a citizen can take. It is a promise kept to herself, her children, and her fellow citizens.
One woman. One ballot. Millions of people throughout our country. This is democracy in action.
Over the next few months youโll hear many voices telling you who and what to vote for. That’s democracy too. It is up to you to determine what you think is worthy of your consideration.
There are many non-partisan resources to help you make your voting decisions. The League of Women Voters of Nevada County will host our candidate forums and Pros and Cons presentation on the 14 propositions that will be on your ballot. Check here for dates. Weโll also continually update Vote411.org, the Leagueโs online voter guide. Our website at www.lwvnevadacounty.org is also brimming with voting information.
Nevada County, itโs Your Vote, Your Future. Be there. Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
