GRASS VALLEY, Caif., October 12, 2026 – Election-related issues and the importance of civic engagement will be the focus of the Saturday, October 17th American Association of University Women (AAUW) Nevada County Branch’s monthly program. The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be held 9:30-11:30AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 828 W. Main Street, Grass Valley.
Among the featured speakers is documentary filmmaker Catherine Busch who will show the final episode of her award-winning 7-part series, “We the People,” based on the Japanese American incarceration of 120,000 during World War II. The 18-minute closing episode, “This is Where We Begin,” leads the audience to consider the vulnerability of our democracy and the vigilance required to maintain our Constitution’s integrity.
In addition, League of Women Voters Nevada County Co-Presidents Lynn Forbes and Jan Bedayn will review some of the California propositions, providing resources for informed citizenship without advocating for any individuals or issues. Also, Grass Valley Mayor Hilary Hodge will provide information on county issues, narrowing the focus of civic engagement from national and state to local.
The October 17th program is sponsored by Sierra Tech Guy, David Ball, https://www.sierratechguy.com.
