January 8, 2017 – Due to current forecast conditions, the California Department of Water Resources will need to begin opening gates on the Sacramento Weir as early as the midday on Monday, January 9, 2017, to manage downstream flows in the Sacramento River.

Per the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Operations and Maintenance Manual, opening of the weir gates will be initiated when the stage at I Street reaches 29.87 feet (NAVD88 –new datum) and rising. Sacramento River at I Street is currently forecast to reach 30 feet Monday near 14:00 hrs.

The Flood Operations Center will notify those affected by the weir opening.
