SACRAMENTO, Nov. 8, 2017  – With less than one year to go until the November 2018 General Election, Secretary of State Alex Padilla is encouraging Californians to dedicate their past or future vote in honor of someone who has served or is currently serving in the military.
Californians can dedicate their votes through the Secretary of State’s “Honor Veterans. Vote. program. Everyone who dedicates their vote receives either a free pin or certificate to proudly display in honor of their chosen loved one. All vote dedications are displayed on the Secretary of State’s website.
Secretary of State Padilla recently filmed a new PSA for Veterans Day and the “Honor Veterans. Vote.” program with several California veterans.

“I started the ‘Honor Veterans. Vote’ program in California to provide another way to say thank you to the veterans and active duty service members whose service and sacrifice make our democracy possible,” Secretary of State Alex Padilla. “The right to vote is more than an opportunity—it is a duty. We should honor our veterans and active duty service members by participating in the democracy that so many have fought to preserve. This Veterans Day, I am encouraging all Californians to consider dedicating their votes in honor of a loved one who has served or is currently serving.”
