May 3, 2017 – California Council of Lands Trusts has come together with their many partners for the second annual Take It Outside California! event. Throughout the first weekend of May, free outdoor events will be held all over the state to help better connect Californians to their wonderful state with new experiences and activities. With these statewide events taking place in everything from parks in urban neighborhoods to wilderness areas, there is something for everyone to get outside and improve their health and well-being along the way.
In its inaugural year Take It Outside California! 2016 demonstrated some impressive numbers with 50 events and over 6000 participants. Nonprofit land trusts and public agencies hold nearly 50 million acres of parks and natural lands, yet many Californians do not enjoy the health benefits from recreation and relaxation these lands offer them. Indeed, many are not even aware these lands exist for them to take advantage of. So in response, The California Council of Land Trusts and partners launched Take It Outside California! to help get Californians outdoors and show them all the parks, natural lands and outdoor activities that are waiting for them!
