Peace Officers with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Tuolumne – Calaveras Unit determined electrical power caused the Appaloosa Fire which is located south-west of Angels Camp, CA.
The fire was caused by a property owner working on an electrical panel breaker box which led to the water supply. CAL FIRE is conducting firing operations to secure the perimeter of the fire.
A citation was issued to the property owner for violation of Health and Safety Code 13001, negligently causing a fire and Public Resources Code 4422(b), allowing fire to spread to lands of another. The case will be submitted to the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office for review.
