With the cooler overnight temperatures, firefighters continued to extinguish hot spots, mitigate hazards and strengthen control lines. Use caution while driving Hwy 128 in the fire area as fire equipment and personnel will be present.

Highway 128 is fully open to through traffic. Despite steep rugged terrain, fire crews made significant progress today allowing the repopulation of the nine evacuated homes and opening both lanes of traffic on Hwy 128. Use extreme caution while driving along this section of Hwy 128 as fire equipment and personnel will remain on scene for the next few days.

Fire crews made good progress through the night with suppression efforts and constructing control lines due to cool temperatures and high humidity. Today, crews will continue to strengthen the line, mitigate hazards, and extinguish any hot spots throughout the day. Hwy 128 remains closed for now, but will be evaluated late this afternoon, as well as repopulating the nine homes that are currently under evacuation orders.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. a vegetation fire was reported at Wragg Canyon Rd. and Hwy 128. Fire Crews on the ground working together with aircraft kept the fire from reaching nine homes. The topography, wind, and thick brush made firefighting efforts difficult at times. Fire crews will be actively working through the night suppressing the fire and constructing control lines.
