Charlie, Los Angeles County. Two miles east Castaic, CA. Chaparral and brush. Minimal fire behavior. Numerous residences threatened. Road and area closures in effect.

The Charlie Fire was reported at approximately 2:42 pm September 22, 2018, off Charlie Canyon near Castaic, CA. The Fire is being by the USDA Forest Service Angeles National Forest, under a type 3 organization. At 0600 today The Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff’s Departments went out of unified command.
The Fire is currently 3,380 acres, 72% contained. Lake Hughes Road remains closed just above the main upper lake boat launch to Dry Gulch Rd. Dry Gulch Rd. also remains closed. The East side of Castaic Lake State Recreation is open to boating, camping and picnicking, the west side of the lake remains closed. For information on recreation at Castaic Lake, the public can call (661) 257-4050. San Francisquito Canyon Road is open, please drive with caution as fire equipment remains in the area. No Evacuations are in place. To date there has been two minor firefighter injuries, both heat related.
Today fire resources will continue to reinforce containment lines and mop-up. Aircraft will be available to support ground crews as needed.

The Charlie Fire was reported at approximately 2:41 pm September 22, 2018, off Charlie Canyon near Castaic, CA. The Fire is being managed under unified command by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, USDA Forest Service Angeles National Forest and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The Fire is currently 3,380 acres, 10% contained. Lake Hughes Road and San Francisquito Canyon Road are Closed. Approximately 20 residences in San Francisquito Canyon have been evacuated.
Crews are constructing and reinforce containment lines around fire perimeter. Aircraft are being used to support ground crews with water and retardant drops.
Temperatures today will be 89-94 degrees, RH 15-20 with winds out of the southwest 8-15 this afternoon.
