Significant amounts of unburned brush and tall grass are still present within the fire perimeter. Heavy, decadent brush in excess of 30 feet located in various drainages inside the perimeter.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department went out of Unified Command transitioning management responsibilities of the fire back to the Angeles National Forest.
Crews will continue to patrol, mop-up, reinforce containment lines and finish suppression repair work.
RED FLAG Warning extended until 10 am PST Friday.
Low humidity levels and Santa Ana winds will continue across the fire area through Friday morning.

Crews continue to reinforce and containment line while patrolling and extinguish hotspots, mopping-up and suppression repair. Unburned and decadent fuels within the perimeter may lead to additional fire activity which could threaten control lines.

The Damage Assessment Teams have concluded their assessment, evaluation and recorded damage and destroyed structures. 60 residential and 63 outbuildings destroyed, 55 residential and 26 outbuildings damaged (

Emergency and utility crews continue to work in areas affected by the fire. Please use caution when driving in and around the area. Winds are expected to drop below critical level tonight.
The Angeles National Forest has elevated its fire danger level to EXTREME. Fire restrictions are now in effect throughout the Forest to include: NO CAMPFIRES, NO OPEN FLAME, NO BBQ’s or GRILLING. Further restrictions could include restricted use of recreation areas.

The fire will continue to impact multiple communities in the immediate area including; Santa Clarita, Glendale, Olive View, Lakeview Terrace, Sunland, Shadow Hills, Sylmar, Pacoima, Lopez Canyon, and Kagel Canyon.
Single digit daytime humidity persists, with very little overnight recovery.
Damage Assessment teams continue to survey the damaged structures.
Active fire behavior with single tree torching.

At 8:00 p.m this evening all Evacuations Orders and warning have been lifted except for the Limekiln Canyon which remains closed. The Shadow Hills area north of Sunland Boulevard, Ebey Canyon and Doane Canyon are open to residents only.

All Creek Fire evacuation areas have been lifted with the exception of the following three areas: Limekiln Canyon is closed from Pacoima Canyon Road to Maclay Street. 3 LAFD firefighters have been injured and transported to the hospital. All are in stable condition with one anticipated to be released tonight and one tomorrow.
STRUCTURES DESTROYED:
Approximately 30 structures destroyed but NO lives lost (20 in Kagel Canyon area and 10 in the City of Los Angeles). A more accurate count will be performed incident permitting. Resources are fully engaged saving lives and defending property.

Sunland Senior Center is CLOSED and not accepting residents.

All previously voluntary evacuations are now MANDATORY within the zone – North of the 210 Freeway from (eastern border) La Crescenta to (western border) Glenoaks Blvd off ramp / Sombrero Canyon. The LA Equestrian center is FULL to capacity and can’t not receive any additional animals. Pierce College remains OPEN for large animals.
If you are in the evacuation zone, please do NOT delay. Take critical items and safely depart the area. If you live in an area bordering the current evacuation zone, please ensure you are getting READY SET GO. This erratic fire will carry embers and create spot fires which we can not predict. Have your vehicle packed, animals secured and car facing out the driveway ready to depart.

LA County Sheriff update:
EVACUATIONS:
Kagel Canyon lower area from the cemetary, 200 homes have been evacuated. Upper are from the cemetary, 10 to 15 homes have been damaged or have been burned and 60 homes have been evacuated.
The Blue Star Mobile Home Park located at 12401 Filmore Street, Sylmar about 200 homes have been evacuated.
West Terrance Area, 30 homes have been evacuated.
At this time no deaths or injuries have been reported.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel reports the “Creek Fire” is now at 4,000 acres with zero percent containment near Sylmar and Lake View Terrace, Angeles National Forest. There are 400 Firefighters and 50 Fire engines are on-scene. Approximately 2,500 homes and several schools in the surrounding area have been evacuated. The 210 (Foothill) Freeway remains open in both directions for evacuees and for emergency vehicle personnel.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Community College Bureau personnel reports Mission College located at 13356 Eldridge Avenue, Sylmar, East Campus has been evacuated. The fire has reached the campus and no structures threatened. There were no injuries reported. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel are on-scene.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s, County Services Bureau personnel reports the “Olive View- UCLA Medical Center” located at 14445 Olive View Drive, Sylmar has been ordered to remain in place.” There are 217 patients and 176 in-patients and 41 patients in the Emergency Room. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is on scene.
