Hobo, Shasta-Trinity NF, USFS. Seven miles northwest of Junction City, CA. Timber, brush and short grass. Minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Residences threatened. Road closure in effect.

Overnight the fire had minimal activity, with smoldering in the interior. Today crews will continue to mitigate hazard trees, find and extinguish any hot spots, and continue mop up. Smoke from fires to the south has reduced visibility for air operations. All fire activity continues to be within the direct and indirect control lines.

The Hobo Fire is burning in Barney Gulch north of Helena and Hwy 299, northwest of Junction City.  The fire size is approximately 412 acres and it is now 35% contained. The reduction in acreage is due to better mapping.
 
Resources include: 21 engines,  2 water tenders, 4 helicopters, 7 crews and air tankers are available.  
 
Please be advised the East Fork Rd (County Rd 421) is closed at Highway 299, and the Hobo Gulch Campground and North Fork Trinity River Trailhead are closed.

The Hobo Fire is burning in Barney Gulch north of Helena and Hwy 299, northwest of Junction City. The fire size is approximately 450 acres. There was little growth of the fire during the overnight hours. Growth overnight was mostly along County Road 421.

Please be advised the East Fork Rd (County Rd 421) is closed at the North Fork Trinity River Bridge, and the Hobo Gulch Campground and North Fork Trinity River Trailhead are closed.

Direct control lines will be utilized where possible around structures and at the east side of the fire. Steep slopes on the western aspects are forcing indirect control lines. Strategic firing will be utilized to bring control lines down to the road.

East Fork Rd (County Rd 421) is closed at the North Fork Trinity River Bridge, and the Hobo Gulch Campground and North Fork Trinity River Trailhead are closed.
