Effective at 5:00 p.m. today, all evacuations and road closures will be lifted in the area of the Mountain Fire. The American Red Cross evacuation center at Crosspointe Community Church in Redding will close this evening at 9:00 p.m.
Fire crews will continue to mop up and patrol in the fire area for several days. In the unlikely event that smoke from smoldering material within the fire perimeter is observed, please notify fire personnel working in the area.
Drivers traveling in the vicinity are asked to move with caution as firefighters and equipment remain working in the area.

By Friday afternoon, nearly all of the remaining 700 PG&E customers impacted by the Mountain Fire had power restored. Of the 29 customers still without power, 17 of them are expected to be restored by 8 p.m. Friday. PG&E will work to restore the last nine customers once crews have safe access to the now-active fire area.

Crews from Pacific Gas and Electric Company are working to replace fire-damaged wooden poles and restore power by Friday evening to the remaining 700 customers who are without power from the Mountain Fire.
On Thursday, PG&E shut off power at the request of Cal Fire to about 1,200 electric customers in and near the Mountain Fire in Shasta County. This was done the safety of firefighters and others. About 500 of those customers were restored Thursday evening.
As PG&E gained safe access to burn areas, crews replaced three burned wooden poles on Thursday. Today, PG&E crews are replacing the remaining 14 damaged poles and expect to restore the remaining customers this evening.
PG&E crews proactively sprayed fire retardant on about 30 wooden poles in areas they could safety access near the fire.

Firefighters made good progress overnight preventing additional growth to the fire and increasing containment line. The north side of the fire presents the biggest challenge due to the possibility of increased south winds and steep, rugged terrain. Damage assessment is ongoing.

Erratic fire behavior influenced by windy conditions and steep terrain challenged firefighters into the midafternoon. Winds calmed allowing progress to be made in slowing the fire’s spread, however, there is an anticipated return for gusty conditions tonight. Damage assessment is ongoing. Crews will continue working through the night to increase and strengthen containment lines.
