River, Merced-Mariposa Unit, Cal Fire. IMT 1 (Cal Fire Team 6). Eight miles north of Raymond, CA. Tall grass, brush and hardwood slash. Minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Several communities threatened. Road closures in effect.

Progress continues to increase on the River Fire. Damage inspection is complete and the number of destroyed and damaged homes is final. All road closures have been lifted, please continue to drive carefully as emergency personnel are still working throughout the fire area. The temperature will not be as high today with relative humidity as low as 20%. There is a chance of thunderstorms and dry lightning around the area. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate in the event that fire activity changes.

There has been minimal fire activity today due to a decrease in temperature and increase in relative humidity. Firefighters will continue to strengthen control lines and mop up hot spots. All road closures have been lifted, please continue to drive carefully as emergency personnel are still working throughout the fire area. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate in the event that fire activity changes.

CAL FIRE IMT 6 (Veik) in command. Active fire behavior with short range spotting, creeping and isolated torching. Structures remain threatened. Threat to critical habitat. Evacuations orders and warnings remain in place. Access and terrain continue to hamper suppression efforts. Federal air and ground resources assigned. ECC Support Team assigned. FMAG submitted.
Late last night, Peardale Chicago Park Fire sent Brush-57 with four crew members, assigned to the River Fire in Mariposa County. They are part of the XNE4101C Nevada County Strike Team. The Strike Team is actively working the fireline as of early this morning. Also a part of the strike team; Ophir Hill Fire, North San Juan Fire, Rough and Ready Fire, Nevada County Consolidated.

Firefighters continue to aggressively attack the fire while dangerous heat persists. Low humidity, tree torching, wind driven runs and frequent spot fires continue to challenge firefighters. Crews are working hard to construct and reinforce control lines. Damage assessment is ongoing. CAL FIRE IMT 6 (Veik) on order.

Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office: All current Mariposa County River Fire Mandatory Evacuation Orders have been reduced to a Fire Advisory. This included Stumpfield Mountain Rd, Indian Peak Rd and Oak Grove Rd.
Firefighters continue to aggressively attack the fire while dangerous heat persists. Extreme fire behavior, due to low fuel moisture and persistent drought, is a concern. Crews are working hard to construct and reinforce control lines. Damage assessment is ongoing.
