All evacuations lifted. Dozers, hand crews and engines made great progress today further building containment line around the fire perimeter and will continue overnight. Over the next three days, the Route Fire will continue to be patrolled and monitored. This will be the final incident update

Minimal fire behavior with smoldering. Firefighting operations continued through the day with a focus on mopping up hot spots and further building containment lines. Dozers, hand crews and engines made great progress today on building further containment around the fire perimeter. Tonight ground resources will focus on mopping up hot spots 300ft in from containment lines. Excessive heat, low humidity and steep terrain will continue to pose the biggest challenge for firefighters. Current objectives are to hold the fire within containment lines West of Castaic Lake, East of Palumas Canyon, South of Fall Creek, and North of Lake Hughes Rd.

Excessive heat, low humidity and steep terrain will continue to pose the biggest challenge for firefighters on this incident. Winds are forecasted to be 6-12 mph with gusts up to 30-40 mph out of the northwest that have the potential to increase fire growth.
All evacuation orders have been lifted.

The brush fire started at 12:01 p.m. on August 31, 2022, and is under unified command or jointly managed by LA County Fire Department, the Angeles National Forest, CAL FIRE, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (Santa Clarita Station). The California Highway Patrol, CalTrans District 7, and the Red Cross are also assisting with the Route Fire.
