Fire will continue to creep and smolder, cleaning up any green islands. Large diameter dead and down will continue to burn in the interior of the fire. Start snagging and securing fire edge to extent necessary.

Weather: Hot and dry for the next few days. Potential for thunderstorms and strong out flow winds.

No structures are threatened. The fire was active overnight, burning in steep terrain. There were safety issues with rollout of large trees and boulders.

Resources continue to arrive on the fire. Continue fireline construction. Crews will map the fire today to get a more accurate idea of size.

Fire behavior remains active with spotting. Smoke from the fire is impacting State Hwy 36, but it remains open at this time. There is a current threat to private timberlands.

The fire is burning at a moderate rate of spread in heavy timber. Fire is located in the Childs Meadow area and State Hwy 36, approximately 4 miles northeast of Mineral California. There is a current impact to State Hwy 36.
