The Tule Fire is located along Highway 190, north of Coffee Camp on the Western Divide Ranger District in Giant Sequoia National Monument, Sequoia National Forest. The fire has grown to an estimated 750 acres and has forced traffic control on Highway 190 with lane closures in place.

Firefighters managed to slow the spread of the fire with air support, hose lays, and hand line. Efforts continue to stop the fire from spreading east towards the community of Doyle Springs, north to Mountain Home, and west towards Springville. The earlier evacuation advisory has been canceled for the communities of Doyle Springs, Coffee Camp, Camp Nelson, and Scicon.

Fire resources that have been working on suppressing the Tule Fire include 7 engines, 6 hand crews, 2 helicopters, air attack, and 6 air tankers. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire personnel responded to six new lightning caused fires yesterday afternoon, all are being fully suppressed with local resources and help from resources assigned to the Cedar Fire. Remember to be careful with any activity that might spark a fire, one less spark can mean one less wildfire. Please do your part to prevent wildfires.
