Tumbleweed, Northern California District, BLM. Fifteen miles east of Susanville, CA. Brush and tall grass. Minimal fire behavior with wind-driven runs. Residences and sage-grouse habitat threatened. Reduction in acreage due to more accurate mapping.

Crews making good progress, some interior heat but no fire growth.

The decrease in fire size from 700 acres to 540 acres is due to better mapping. Overnight fire spread was minimal as overnight humidities increased.
A threat remains to structures due to gusty winds forecasted over the fire area today.
There is also a threat to the Schaffer Mountain communications tower and Sage Grouse habitat has been impacted.
