Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. We’ll get better acreage estimates when the aircraft is back up.

Latest estimate puts the fire at 4,000 acres. Still burning at a rapid rate of spread in light fuels. Per Calaveras OES: evacuations are in effect from Milton Road to Rock Creek Road to Salt Valley Reservoir. An evacuation center will be available at Jenny Lind Elementary School.
