A small spot fire has been located 1/4 mile east of the main fire. 10 by 10 spot, no spread. Battalion 97 is working on the spot fire.

A hose lay is being punched through and is 3/4 completed around the fire. The head of the fire is being held in check with the retardant line. TNF Helicopter 514 is continuing doing bucketwork and the crew is handline line construction.

Caltrans: Right lane closed WB I-80 at Eagle Lake Rd just west of Hwy 20 junction for brush fire. Ramps to/from Hwy 20 closed. Anticipate traffic delays.

There are reports of vehicles stopping on the eastbound side of I 80 to look at the fire. Do not stop on the highway!

Both air tankers have dropped and are on load and hold in Grass Valley. Power lines are down on the heel of the fire. There is a Boy Scout camp in the area, the camp will shelter in place for now. There is no immediate threat to the camp or any structures.

Additional closures: On and off ramps to Hwy 20 are now closed. The #2 lane of I 80 will be closed shortly. Units are on scene, reporting the fire is burning in timber at a moderate rate of spread.
