Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the Evacuation Warning for Constantia Road in Doyle. All evacuations have now been lifted.

July 28, 2020 – The Adams Fire remains at 918 acres tonight and is now 50% contained. No additional growth occurred on the fire. Today, fire crews focused on securing all fire lines and mopping up hot spots within the fire’s perimeter. The majority of hot spots were located on the ridge top on the far southwest edge of the fire. Hotshot crews were able to utilize water drops from helicopters to assist in mop up. Firefighters will remain on the fire overnight to ensure all containment lines hold and to continue to mop up and patrol near structures. An Evacuation Warning remains in effect for south Constantia Road (Lassen County Sheriff’s Office). All road closures were lifted earlier today. The next fire update will be posted mid-morning tomorrow.

12:00 pm – New numbers for the Adams Fire: the fire was mapped out at 918 acres and is now 30% contained. No additional fire growth occurred today; the increase in acreage is due to more accurate mapping. Travelers on US-395 and residents in the Doyle area may see helicopters flying in the area. Four helicopters are assigned to the fire and are supporting Hotshot crews on the ridge line with water drops on a few hotspots. All fire lines continue to hold. The next update on the fire will be posted this evening.

10:00 am – Evacuation Update: The Mandatory Evacuation Order for Constantia Road in Doyle has been downgraded to an evacuation Warning for residents along both sides of Constantia Road from the intersection of Highway 395 and South Constantia Road, North to Rhodes Creek. Plumas National Forest updates:

7:00 pm – Fire behavior has calmed once again on the Adams Fire. It is currently 600 acres and is 5% contained. Firefighters will continue working on the fire overnight. US-395 has reopened to two-way traffic with no controls. All previous evacuations remain in place. Residents can refer to Lassen County Sheriff’s Office for updates on evacuations. Please check back tomorrow morning for the next fire update.

6:00 pm – Firefighters are having success on the spot fire that resulted from gusty winds this afternoon and are holding all other fire lines. The spot fire did cross US-395 near the south end of Constantia Road, but forward progress on that spot has been stopped. Current acreage is estimated at 600 acres. US-395 has reopened to one-way controlled traffic from Red Rock to Doyle. Structure protection remains in place. No additional evacuations or road closures have been ordered.

4:00 pm – New Road Closures: US-395 is currently closed in both directions from Doyle to Red Rock for an unknown duration due to a spot fire. Gusty winds have resulted in a 20 acre spot fire near the south end of Constantia Road and US-395. The spot fire is being attacked with both air and ground resources. No additional evacuations have been issued.

3:00 pm – Thunderstorms accompanied by very light rainfall have reached the fire area. These storms are capable of producing downdrafts with 40-50 mph winds. All firelines are currently holding. All previous evacuations and road closures remain in place. #PlumasNF firefighters not assigned to the fire are prepared to respond to any new fire starts.

2:00 pm – Better news: The drone is no longer flying over the fire and aircraft are back up assisting firefighters with water drops. Take a peek at the newly added photos for a view of what the clouds look like over the fire this afternoon. Thunderstorm activity is picking up south of the fire.

1:15 pm – Disappointing news. Due to a private drone in the fire area, rotary wing air resources are grounded. There is a temporary flight restriction (TFR) in place. The Lassen County Sheriff is in the area working to locate the responsible party. Remember: If You Fly -We Can’t.

1:00 pm – Not much growth on the fire; it is still mapping out around 500 acres. The smoke has diminished just enough to see clouds moving into the area. Crews are working hard to secure fire lines in preparation for thunderstorms and gusty outflow winds expected over the fire this afternoon and evening. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 9:00 pm. All previous evacuations and closure remain in effect.

12:00 pm – Air and ground crews continue to be effective in attacking the #AdamsFire. An Evacuation Order remains in effect for residents along South Constantia Road in Doyle. There are currently no other evacuations. Constantia Road remains closed from north Constantia Road at the intersection of US-395 to south Constantia Road at the intersection of US-395. US-395 remains open to 2-way traffic.

11:00 am – Fire officials report fire behavior has calmed considerably and Hwy 395 was just opened to 2-way traffic. Travelers should use caution due to emergency vehicles in the area. There are lots of resources on scene and more are arriving. Evacuations will remain in effect due to the predicted thunderstorm activity. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 9:00 pm. #PlumasNF

10:00 am – Hwy 395 open to 1-lane escorted traffic. Air attack pegs fire as 480 acres. Air tankers making good progress with retardant drops.

9:00 am – Hwy 395 is closed 9.7 miles north of the junction of State Route 70 to Doyle (Lassen Co.) per Cal Trans. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

8:45 am Update – Fire has grown to 400 acres and is active on the north end, burning toward Constantia. Mandatory evacuation (Lassen County Sheriff’s Office) taking place on Constantia Road. Fire is burning on Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and private land. US-395 is closed from Doyle to Red Rock for an unknown duration.

Active fire behavior observed today. Structures are threatened with Mandatory Evacuations in place for the community of Constantia. There is also a threat to railways and State Highway 395. State Highway 395 is open to controlled traffic.

At 10 pm last night, weather in the area was 78 degrees, 28% RH and winds are WSW at 9 mph with gusts to 28 mph.
