Air Attack 230 has been released from the Bald Fire, returning to Grass Valley. Washington Ridge crew and local engines are mopping up the fire, extinguishing any remaining hot spots.

Bald Air Attack is releasing TNF Helicopter 514 and will release Helicopter 516 shortly. Excellent progress by firefighters.

Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. Resources will be on scene for at least 2 more hours. There will be extensive mop-up and overhaul.

Helicopters are working to prevent any spotting near the homes. Two tankers are on scene, extending retardant lines and reinforcing existing lines.

One tanker released to Grass Valley Air Base. Two helicopters and one tanker still assigned to the fire, Air Attack continues to monitor. Good progress is being made.

Additional tanker drop on the right shoulder of the fire, then helicopter will come in to extinguish hot spots.

The fire has reached the top of the hill, still burning at a slow rate of spread. Getting into oak timber.

The fire is currently holding in the retardant lines. Tankers remain overhead and helicopters are doing bucket work to assist ground resources.

Updated acreage estimate from Air Attack puts the fire at 6 to 7 acres. some spotting is occurring.

Firefighters on the ground are actively working structure protection for the homes. Air support is boxing the fire in and attempting to slow the spread by using a heavy retardant coverage.

New start in the Auburn area, on Bald Hill Road near Mt. Vernon Road. Units are on scene working the vegetation fire, reportedly started by a lawn mower. The fire is mostly burning in blackberries and other heavier fuels. Two structured may eventually be threatened. The fire has a potential of about 2-5 acres. Additional resources are being dispatched to the incident.
