October 11, 2017 at 3:32 PM

In northeast Yuba County, about 1,300 customers in Loma Rica, Rackerby, Browns Valley, Dobbins and Oregon House are without power and are also expected to be restored by late Thursday. About 50 PG&E linemen are rebuilding 120 burned poles and power lines damaged in the Cascade and La Porte fires.

October 11, 2017 at 9:21 AM

Fire behavior forecast: The fire is burning in a mix of grass and brush with stands of timber and timber litter that are extremely dry and have a heavy fuel loading. With the predicted northwest wind, single or group tree torching could cast embers and produce spot fires in receptive fuel beds – especially where the timber litter fuel loading or heavy grass crops are high. Wind speeds are expected to increase with strong gusts which will led to increased rates of spread and the possibility of long range spotting.

October 11, 2017 at 9:10 AM

All areas east to Collins Lake and the Yuba/Nevada County line, not including the Oregon House community are under evacuation orders.

October 11, 2017 at 8:56 AM

Damage Assessment Teams have arrived at the incident and have initiated their assessments. Changes in damaged and destroyed structures along with the type of structures involved will be reflected in incident updates as the assessment teams confirm their findings.

October 10, 2017 at 7:15 AM

Firefighters made good progress overnight, anchoring and extending firelines.

October 10, 2017 at 7:03 AM

Control objectives for the day:

Keep the fire North of Fruitland Road
Keep the fire South of Rocky Huncut Creek
Keep the fire East of Loma Rica Road and Iowa City
Keep the fire West of Marysville Road

Fire behavior: The fires are burning in a mix of grass and brush with stands of timber and timber litter that are extremely dry and have a heavy fuel loading. The fire spread was initially driven by high winds and low humidity with long range spotting. Group tree torching could cast embers and produce spot fires in receptive fuel beds, especially where timber litter fuel loading or heavy grass crops are high. Wind speeds are expected to significantly decrease from the previous day which will lead to lower rates of spread and lower spotting distances.

October 10, 2017 at 6:47 AM

A dry weather system will pass just north of the fire site Tuesday into Wednesday. Relative humidity will remain low with poor overnight recovery. Winds will be shifting the next couple of days as the system approaches and moves through the region and will become west to northwest on Wednesday.
