Fire has been mapped by GPS at 10.2 acres. Two engines will remain on the fire from 10 pm to the morning, two engines and two handcrews will be assigned tomorrow morning.

Heavy mop-up operations are starting. All hotspots have to be extinguished, any hazard trees will have to be removed. Then all the hose lays have to be backhauled. PG&E is on site and working on the damaged power pole. Firefighters will be on this incident overnight.

Per Cal Fire PIO, the fire is now 60% contained. Cal Fire is assisted by Placer Hills, Newcastle, Penryn, North San Juan, Auburn City, Placer County Fire, Higgins Fire Dist. Ophir Hill, Peardale/Chicago Park, Grass Valley Fire, Nevada County Consolidated, Nevada City Fire, according to the fact sheet.

Greenhorn IC is requesting two hand crews, to relieve the engines. Once the hand crews are on site, the local engines will return to their stations.

17 engines, 4 water tenders, 3 dozers and handcrews are assigned to the fire. Cal Fire, Ophir Hill, Peardale-Chicago Park, Grass Valley, Nevada County Consolidated and North San Juan units are on scene. Also responding are a Placer County Type III, Newcastle B41 and Penryn B38.

Great progress reported by the IC, hoselay is completed around the majority of the fire. Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. The fire is now estimated at 6-7 acres, per Air Attack.
