The fire is now fully contained, mapped at 2.7 acres. I80 is open again without restrictions.

Weimar IC has reopened the railroad. Firefighters have a wetline around the fire, now working on a handline [removing all vegetation.] Resources will be committed at least until 3:00 pm.

Air Attack is leaving the Weimar Fire, en route now to a new incident on the Amador-Eldorado unit. The fire is reported just east of Pollock Pines, on eastbound US50 near the Ridgeway Drive off ramp.

Washington Ridge Crew 3, en route to the fire, has just been canceled by the IC. The resources on scene will be able to contain the fire shortly and mop up any hotspots.

The westbound #2 lane of I80 will remain closed for another 30 minutes to 1 hour. Use an alternate route if possible.

IC reports firefighters are working on spot fires across the railroad tracks. Once the spots are extinguished, railroad traffic can resume. Air Attack is releasing Tanker 88 back to Grass Valley Air Base.

CHP is reporting westbound traffic backed up to Colfax. SigAlert just issued by CHP: Westbound 80 at Weimar Cross Road, the right lane is closed due to a grass fire. It is unknown when the lane will open.

IC reports a few small spots across the railroad tracks, requests an additional water tender.

Full wildland dispatch for a reported vegetation fire on westbound I 80, east of Weimar Cross Road in the Colfax area. Units en route. Mt. Howell lookout confirms visible smoke.
