Cold Springs, Boulder County. IMT 2 (Greer). Two miles northeast of Nederland, CO. Timber. Minimal fire behavior. Numerous residences threatened. Evacuations, road, area and trail closures in effect. Reduction in acreage due to more accurate mapping.

Fire behavior has moderated and has included creeping, smoldering, and occasional single-tree torching. Fire held within the perimeter today and perimeter control will continue while crews work around structures within and near the fire perimeter. Mop-up work has begun.

The Cold Springs Fire is burning in Lodgepole, Ponderosa Pine, and mixed conifer forest and closed timber litter. Five confirmed residences have been lost as of 1400 on July 11, 2016. The cause of the fire is human. On the afternoon of July 10, 2016, Boulder County Sheriff’s detectives arrested two men at the Nederland High School evacuation site for their role in starting the fire.

Boulder Canyon to Peak to Peak Highway and Magnolia Road remained closed.

Per City of Boulder: Temps expected to hit 85-87 by noon, increasing to low 90s this afternoon. Winds expected at 15-20 mph, gusts of 30 mph.

Boulder OEM: Pre-evac notice sent to additional 174 contacts. All in area should be ready to leave at any time. COMMUNITY MEETING: 2:30 p.m. at Nederland HS. Multiple agencies on hand with info & to answer questions.
