Extreme fire behavior with wind driven runs. Residences threatened. Evacuations and road closures in effect.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’ Office, all evacuations and closures in the area have been lifted. No residences were lost. Power lines were damaged or destroyed in multiple locations. This morning BLM assumed command of the fire. There was no growth overnight and the fire is in mop up operation.

“Fire is looking good this morning”, according to on scene Incident Commander. Yesterday air tankers were diverted from other fires in the area to this fire. According to the Washoe County Sheriff’ Office, all evacuations and closures in the area have been lifted.

No residences were lost. Power lines were damaged or destroyed in multiple locations.

This morning BLM assumed command of the fire. There was no growth overnight and the fire is in mop up operation.

Multiple resources aggressively attacked the Cold Springs Fire, personnel will remain in the area throughout the evening. Evacuations lifted.

Air tankers were diverted from other fires in the area to this fire. 213 personnel fighting the fire. Extreme fire behavior observed throughout the afternoon with wind-driven runs.

Heavy and continuous fuels causing greater spread than would normally be expected.

Power lines damaged or destroyed in multiple locations.

Stead Tanker Base has lost electrical power. 100 residences threatened.

Washoe County Sheriff: Residents of Silver Knolls area also being asked to evacuate. Again, if you live in the area of this fire stay alert & be prepared to move.

WCSO assisting with evacuations in the area of Crystal Canyon Blvd. and White Lake Parkway due to Cold Springs fire – avoid the area! Red Rock Road closed east of 395 due to Cold Springs fire, avoid area. If you live in area stay alert, be prepared to move!

Primary jurisdiction is Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District. SFIDC is ordering state and federal resources to assist. Currently, three federal fire engines on scene, along with a chief officer. Slide Mountain hand crew also on scene. Air tankers are being diverted from other fires in the area to this fire. Four additional hand crews on order, dozers also are on order. A type 1 fire engine strike team is on order for structure protection. Evacuations are in effect in the Red Rock and White Lake areas.
