July 7, 2016 at 5:19 PM

The S Fire is currently 2554 acres with no significant fire activity today.  The acreage was gained yesterday as wind was pushing the fire in grass and light brush.

No structures are threatened.  Firefighters are re-enforcing handline and mopping up the perimeter to contain the fire threat.  Most local resources and aircraft are being released today leaving primarily state and federal resources to continue mopping up the fire.  The fire was 100% contained at noon today.

On 7/6/16, three male juveniles were witnessed in the hillside area by the “S” on the east side of Sparks, behind Northern Nevada Medical Offices, just after the first siting of smoke on the hill. They were described as between the ages of 12 years – 15 years old. One was caucasian with blonde hair about 5′ 9″ tall. The other two were darker skinned and about 5′ 5″ to 5′ 8″ tall. They all had backpacks on and were seen betwen 12:30 pm and 1:45 pm in that area. They were last seen being picked up from Pagni Park in an older silver color Mercedes SUV and leaving on Primio Way.

The Sparks Fire Department is very interested in talking to these individuals which may have information regarding the brush fire.

If anyone has information that could help the Sparks Fire Department, please contact Fire Marshal Bob King at 775-353-2261.
