** Red Flag Warning through 11pm tonight for gusty winds and low relative humidity**

A dry cold front is expected to push into Idaho late this afternoon, which will continue to push moisture and thunderstorm activity well to the east. This front will also bring stronger winds to the region and combine them with afternoon westerly zephyr winds. Winds tomorrow should be stronger than what the region observed on Sunday. This front will also bring much drier air to the surface, helping to lower the afternoon humidity into the single digits. Thus, tomorrow will also be a Red Flag Warning day and the warning will extend through the evening. Less wind is expected Tuesday and Wednesday but single digit humidity is expected to remain in place.

The fire is currently measured at 98,960 acres and is 83% contained. Resources will continue to patrol, mop up and monitor the perimeter while local resources are released back to their districts for availability during potential fire weather this weekend.

Additional Fires:

Crews have begun rehabbing the areas affected by suppression efforts. As periods of light activity allow, the Great Basin Incident Management Team is sharing resources to assist with suppression efforts on other fires in Nevada, while keeping them close enough should we see an increase in activity this weekend. One crew was reassigned to assist on the fire near Jackpot yesterday, and a variety of aerial resources have been loaned out to the Green Gulch Fire as well as to fires burning near Las Vegas.

Weather:

Today is forecast to be slightly hotter than yesterday, with zephyr winds of 25-30mph and temperatures over 100 degrees. Hot and unstable conditions are forecast this afternoon, with the potential to produce thunderstorms and wind gusts possible up to 50 mph.

The most active portion of the fire is burning in the north and northeast sections. The fire broke through a portion of a dozer containment line moving the fire towards Warrior Peak. Retardant drops over the fire yesterday helped minimize the spread of the fire, and crews will concentrate on securing line in this section today. Residents should expect to see pockets of burning fuel from within the interior of the fire today.
