Truckee, Calif. January 24, 2019 – In June of 2019, Erol Senel and Price Burlington will begin a 3,100 mile bike ride across the country in opposite directions. Senel will begin in Milford, N.H. and finish in Truckee, Calif., while Burlington will begin in San Ramon, Calif. and end in Newtown Square, Pa. This trying task will benefit the High Fives Non-Profit Foundation in honor of their loved ones, Carson Burlington and Adil Senel.

Burlington tragically lost his son Carson to a car accident in 2017. Following this enormous loss, Burlington and his family established Team Carson, a memorial fund to honor Carson and keep his spirit alive. Team Carson works side by side with High Fives Foundation to host an annual day of skiing in Carson’s name, while raising awareness and support for those living with life-altering injury. High Fives Across America is yet another amazing way for Burlington to honor his late son,

“For me this is a bicycle journey across the United States in honor of my late son, and for adaptive athletes that have been impacted by life-altering injuries. It also forms the tapestry for a larger story of overcoming and triumphing in the midst of multiple life challenges, like anxiety disorder, family member addictions, and the sudden loss of my first born son at the age of 29”. – Price Burlington

In 1996, Senel’s father was in a life-changing car accident, leaving him in a month-long coma and permanently altering his vision/sight. This dramatic accident greatly affected his life, as well as those who loved and supported him. The tragedy has inspired Senel to help those with similar experiences. High Fives Across America is just another way for Senel to spread positive change in his father’s,

I’m not an adaptive athlete, but I see the healing that the Ohana found at High Fives and the C.R. Johnson Healing Center has on it’s athletes. Men and women who have had that fateful night like my dad did back in 1996 and have since shared in the despair and self-doubt of a reality snatched, only to be replaced by a life and body that were unfamiliar. The difference for these athletes, versus what my dad experienced, they have an Ohana to navigate them and prop them up during this journey of physical and mental healing”. – Erol Senel

Senel and Burlington have each experienced significant trials and tribulations but refuse to be broken by them. High Fives Across America is their opportunity to show others that you can persevere in the face of challenge. Their 3,100 mile bike ride will prove what both of these men know: with remarkable tragedy, comes remarkable strength. High Fives Across America is an inspiring journey of two riders with one goal – to support individuals and their loved ones after a life-changing event.
