March 20, 2021 – In celebration of Women’s History Month, this American Association of University Women (AAUW) Nevada County Branch program takes a look at the critical roles of women in Nevada County health care – past, present, and future.

Topics include the Sisters of Mercy, who cared for the region’s orphans and provided health care to children and other under-served Nevada County residents for more than 150 years, beginning in 1863 and including the 1918 influenza pandemic; the current role of women in medicine, with a focus on emergency department medicine, including the current Covid 19 pandemic; and a glimpse into planning for future Nevada County health care needs.

Featured speakers include: Linda Jack, Nevada County Historical Society Director, Dr. Dawn Harris, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital (SNMH) Emergency Department Medical Director & Chief of Medicine, and Dr. Brian Evans, President/CEO of Dignity Health SNMH.
