January 29, 2018 – Dry and mild for the next week with above average daytime temperatures.

Discussion

Dry and mild weather will continue this week as the mean upper ridge remains along the West Coast. The ridge will weaken somewhat through mid-week as a series of weather systems pass to the north. This will allow varying amounts of high clouds at times and result in some synoptic cooling. However, high temperatures will remain above average. Warming returns Thursday as the ridge amplifies over the eastern Pacific and northerly surface flow increases across interior NorCal.

Extended discussion (Friday through Monday)

Little to talk about in the extended period as ridging rebuilds over the area. Storm track will be deflected well to the north into the Pacific NW with no real chance of precipitation in Norcal for foreseeable future. This will lead to dry weather with much above normal temperatures for the end of the week into the weekend. Daytime high temperatures will top out some 8 to 15 degrees above normal. As conditions dry out, fog formation should be fairly limited.
