September 27, 2017 – Remaining warmer than normal through Thursday with lighter winds. A little cooler Friday into the weekend.

Short term discussion (Today through Saturday)

Upper level high pressure ridge will remain in place into Thursday. Friday and Saturday will see a trough of low pressure pass through the Pacific northwest, brushing NorCal. This will bring slight showers chances to Shasta county and the southern Cascades, along with an area-wide temperature drop of 5-10 degrees. Valley high temperatures Friday and Saturday will be in the 80’s.

Extended discussion (Sunday through Wednesday)

Dry and mild weather expected to continue into early next week, then forecast confidence declines considerably by Tuesday as models continue to show very little consistency in the evolution of the mid-week trough along the West Coast. Little change made to forecast with low chances for showers across the far northern portions of the forecast area.
