Nevada City, CA – Kyler Garrett Heinan, 31, of Grass Valley, California, was arrested on April 21, 2024, for three outstanding warrants and for allegedly inflicting corporal injury, domestic violence, and making criminal threats.

On Sunday, April 21, a good Samaritan called 911 at 2:32 p.m. to report a disturbance on the side of the road at the intersection of Idaho Maryland Rd and Banner Lava Cap Rd in Nevada City, involving a man and woman in a parked vehicle.

Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) deputies responded and located the reported woman. The man, later identified as Heinan, was at large on foot.

Through the course of the investigation, it was suspected the female was the victim of domestic violence. Additional sheriff’s deputies began canvassing the area of Banner Lava Cap and Wings of Morning Drive area for Heinan. As part of this process, deputies notified homeowners in the area that Heinan was wanted for questioning, provided a detailed description of him, and encouraged residents to immediately call 911 for possible sightings of him.

Between 6:48 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., two residents called 911 reporting possible sightings of Heinan in a beige/gold sedan in the 13,000 block of Wings of Morning Drive. Several NCSO deputies immediately responded, and the first responding deputy located Heinan by 7:00 p.m. driving the reported vehicle on Wings of Morning Drive with three occupants. The sheriff’s deputy blocked the road and detained Heinan until backup arrived. He was subsequently arrested for the aforementioned offenses and booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. Two of the three vehicle occupants were also arrested for unlawful drug paraphernalia and cite-released.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank neighbors of the Banner Lava Cap and Wings of Morning Drive area for their vigilance and direct assistance in locating Heinan. His case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
