Nevada City, CA – April 7, 2026 – On Sunday, April 19, local organizations YubaNet, Spectrum Project, and What’s Up Wellness will host Amplify, a free LGBTQ+ youth event at Miners Foundry from 3-6 PM.

Designed as a space for connection, creativity, and joy, Amplify invites young people to come together, be themselves, and spend an afternoon in community. The event will feature live music, spoken word, games, snacks, and a food truck, with performances by local bands Slutzville, Dingbat Superminx, and Big for Nothing, and hosted by DJ Rage More and Bboy Supreme.

Amplify: A Free LGBTQ+ Youth Event Comes to Nevada City

In a rural community, where LGBTQ+ youth don’t always have spaces to gather openly, Amplify offers a welcoming, affirming environment centered on belonging, self-expression, and mental well-being.

“This event is about creating space,” said Abby Richards. “Space to show up as you are, to connect with other young people, to have fun, and to feel like you belong. LGBTQ+ youth deserve places where they can just hangout- without having to explain or defend who they are.”

Amplify is free and open to LGBTQ+ youth, with allies and friends welcome. Zalt & Co Food Truck will be onsite offering a special youth-priced menu.
