Grass Valley, Calif., March 24, 2017 – Sierra College Foundation and Soroptimist International of Grass Valley today announced the details of their annual A Day for Women conference, scheduled for Saturday, April 22 on the Grass Valley Campus of Sierra College. The conference will feature a wide range of workshops, networking opportunities and a craft fair, along with a lunchtime keynote address by Dr. Kim Bateman, executive dean of Sierra College’s Tahoe-Truckee Campus and nationally recognized author and speaker. Her topic will be, “We’re jammin’ – the art of reconciliation.”
Soroptimist International of Grass Valley has presented this annual event for 20 years, and has expanded it significantly four years ago through a partnership with Sierra College Foundation. “The Sierra College venue gives us more individual workshop rooms,” comments Judy East, event chair. “We can now offer a rich schedule of about 20 different workshops, presented by area experts and business leaders.”
The idea behind A Day for Women is to give area women of all ages a special event where they can have fun and enrich themselves. Workshops will cover personal lifestyle areas such as bodywork, makeup and aromatherapy; effectiveness topics such as time management, estate planning and technology; and hobbies including hiking, art, travel planning and cooking.
“We are so pleased to bring area women this wide variety of topics,” commented East. “Attendees will go away having learned something new and perhaps even made some new friends and business contacts.”
The lunch break will feature a small craft market, where area artisans and vendors will be selling their wares. There will be informational booths for the College and the Soroptimist organization as well.
“A Day for Women is a dynamic, exciting, empowering experience for attendees,” commented Lorraine Plagge of Nevada City. “Each year I leave with something new and original to absorb into my life. There is much diversity in the subjects offered and the difficult part is deciding which of the varied sessions I want to attend. It’s fun, educational and I always meet new people from our community.”
A Day for Women will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The registration fee of $45 covers all activities, including lunch. “All profits from the event will go to support Soroptimist International of Grass Valley service projects for women and children and the Sierra College Foundation programs for students,” East explains.
The 2017 event is sponsored by Wells Fargo, KNCO Newstalk 830 and Star 94 FM, Michelle Kalina, Dignity Health, Monty East – Gateway Real Estate, Select Property Management/Century 21, Cornerstone Realty, Ben Franklin Crafts, Betty Stiving – Verger Mortgage, Howard and Peggy Levine, Jenni Johnston – Edward Jones, and The Pilates Place.
