Dear NJUHSD Family,

Please join me in congratulating Assistant Superintendent Dan Frisella.  This past Wednesday night (May 11), the NJUHSD Board of Trustees voted to appoint Dan as the District’s next superintendent effective July 1.  This is wonderful news as Dan brings a wealth of experience in the district, Nevada County, and public education.

Dan has served the District with distinction for eleven years – six as Assistant Superintendent.  Prior to that he was an Assistant Principal and then the Principal of NUHS.  Before becoming an administrator, he was a special education teacher for six years.  All told he has dedicated over 18 years to public education.

Dan and his wife Julie (a talented nurse and health professional herself!) live in the Nevada City area and have three wonderful young boys.  His oldest will be a freshman at NUHS next year, and the other two attend middle and elementary schools in the Nevada City School District.  So he is also a parent and stakeholder in our district, and Nevada County’s public education system.

Working and collaborating with Dan during my tenure at NJUHSD has been a highlight of my career.  His appointment as Superintendent ensures that district will have continuity in focus and commitment.  I have no doubt that he will serve you, our students, and our community with the unbridled passion and commitment he has demonstrated during his entire career.

Congratulations Dan!  We wish you the very best as you transition into this new leadership role.

Sincerely,Brett
