ASK E. JEAN, a documentary film about journalist E. Jean Carroll and her high profile legal battle that found Donald Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation, will screen at the Nevada Theatre on Tuesday, September 8 at 7pm. A community discussion will follow the screening.

The screening is a fundraiser for Community Beyond Violence, a local nonprofit that works to heal the trauma of sexual assault and domestic violence by providing crisis intervention, safety, advocacy, and education to survivors in our community.
ASK E. JEAN explores why Carroll waited so long to come forward and how she was shaped by a culture that encourages women to stay silent. The documentary traces Carrollโs extraordinary life and career in mediaโfrom her days as Miss Cheerleader USA to becoming the first female editor at Playboy, Esquire, and Outside, a writer for Saturday Night Live, and a beloved longtime advice columnist for Elle. ASK E. JEAN is a portrait of a multi-faceted and resilient woman who, despite her legal victories, is still reckoning with the costs of taking on one of the most powerful men in the world.
Local organizer Kathy Dotson says, โAsk E. Jean isn’t just a portrait of one remarkable woman โ it’s a reminder of what it actually looks like to stand up to power and refuse to back down.โ
