NEVADA CITY Calif. February 18, 2018 – A widespread AT&T outage is affecting landlines, cell service and DSL services in Nevada, Placer and Sierra counties.
If you are trying to contact a patient at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, only the patients’ personal cell phones are reachable via text at this time. The hospital’s phone lines are affected by the outage. Thanks to Nevada County’s Public Health Coordinator Patti Carter for this update.
According to AT&T, all cell phones should still be able to call 911.
If you are in need of assistance please call Nevada County Regional Dispatch Center at 530-265-7880 (dispatch landlines are functioning) or 911 for emergencies.
A tip from the Grass Valley Police Department: Please avoid “testing” your phone’s functionality by calling 911, as our dispatchers are working very hard to try and work through this stressful situation.
Per Placer County Sheriff: The areas affected are the 268 & 269 prefixes in the (530) area code. These are in northern Placer County. Cell phones do not seem to be affected. Call (530) 886-5375 to reach PCSO Dispatch.
The outage is expected to last through the evening.
For this we pay soooo much?
