Camino December 17, 2020 – After nearly 29 years of CAL FIRE Service, Scott Lindgren retired from his post as the Unit Chief of the Amador-El Dorado Unit (AEU) on 12/4/20. We appreciate his commitment and service to CAL FIRE and the State of California and wish him the best with his new ventures.

The Amador-El Dorado Unit is happy to welcome home Chief Mike Blankenheim. Mike has returned to AEU from the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU) to his new position as the AEU Chief. Over the past 28 years he has been committed to the fire service. Mike started his firefighting career in 1992 as a volunteer firefighter for the Amador Fire Protection District. Only 2 years later he was hired with CAL FIRE where he served in a variety of positions. His experience includes: Fire Fighter I, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Paramedic in the classifications of Fire Apparatus Engineer and Fire Captain, Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp- Fire Crew Captain, Battalion Chief of the Emergency Command Center, Division Chief of Administration, and the North Division Chief including Growlersburg Conservation Camp. His most recent position was Deputy Chief of Operations.

Chief Blankenheim has also participated on the CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 6 since 2016. He is a Type 1 Operations Section Chief and currently serves as the Deputy Incident Commander for the Team. Mike has served on several cadres and is the Lead Instructor for CAL FIRE’s C420 class and is a member of CAL FIRE’s Leadership Level II instructional cadre.

Mike brings a wide range of experience to his new position of Unit Chief. His background and commitment is a huge asset to the Amador-El Dorado Unit and the communities it serves.
