Auburn – The CAL FIRE Grass Valley Crew will be conducting pile burning operations December 15th and 16th near Auburn on the Auburn State Recreation Area. The project is located near the State Park Headquarters and operations will be visible from Highway 49.
This effort is conducted in cooperation with US Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, California State Parks, and the Placer Resource Conservation District. Support is also provided by The California Conservation Corps.
The purpose of the project is to reduce hazardous vegetation. The burning operations are part of a much larger CAL FIRE grant funded project designed to protect the City of Auburn from wildland fire impacts.
Smoke will be visible in the area. Drivers on Highway 49 should exercise caution while driving near the burn.
