October 22, 2018 – CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire is implementing a live fire operation at CAL FIRE Station 33, located at 33752 Alta Forestry Road Alta, CA
Weather conditions permitting, the burn will begin Monday October 22 at 09:00 am.
This burn will help reduce the fuel loading while converting up to 2.5 acres of underbrush to native vegetation within 3 plots behind the fire station. Once converted these 3 plots will help tie the larger Alta Shaded Fuel Break into the Interstate 80 property. This provides additional protection to the communities north of the Highway in the Alta/Dutch Flat area. The prescribed burn also offers live fire training to area firefighters.
The burn will be ignited starting around 9:00 a.m. and be completed by 3:00 p.m. Smoke will be visible from Interstate 80 in the Alta/Dutch Flat area and surrounding communities.
Resources will remain at scene until all fire is extinguished and continue to check the burn for several days following the project’s completion.
