Butte County October 1, 2017 – CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire investigators arrested two individuals in conjunction to two separate residential structure fires on Friday, September 29th.

On Friday afternoon at 3:16 pm, firefighters were dispatched to a fire on the 500 block of Stoney Oaks Loop in Bangor. Upon arrival, they found a residential structure and one outbuilding fully involved with some extension of the fire into the wildland. Joe Padilla, 62, was arrested for unlawfully causing a fire to an inhabited structure, unlawfully causing a fire to forest land and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Mr. Padilla was booked into Butte County Jail. His bail was set at $31,000.00

At 11:50 pm, firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on the 1200 block of Almond Avenue in Gridley. Crews found a working fire inside the attached garage of the residence and quickly extinguished the fire. With the assistance of BCSO, Jordan Anders, 25, was arrested for arson to an inhabited structure and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Mr. Anders was booked into Butte County Jail. His bail was set at $251,000.00

“We are very fortunate that no members of the public or any firefighters were injured because of these fires”, stated CAL FIRE Butte County Fire Chief Darren Read.
