Butte County October 13, 2017 – Due to the extreme dry conditions, reduced availability of fire fighter resources and the predicted wind events in the coming days, effective October 13th, all burning will be suspended in Butte County.

All campfires, open pit cooking fires, warming fires and ceremonial burns are suspended and the current residential dooryard burn suspension remains in effect. Agricultural burning will still be allowed on a case by case basis determined by the Butte County Air Quality Management District.

This suspension of burning will be reassessed when critical fire weather declines and or the threat of uncontrollable wildfire decreases.

“The unprecedented wind events throughout the state requires us to do everything in our power to prevent additional fire starts”  stated Fire Chief Darren Read.
