January 5, 2017 – From the OES Newsroom: Many of you may be wondering what this storm series has in store for California beyond what you’re getting from your typical sources. To help get a little more enlightenment we chatted via Skype with four weather and water experts a short while ago today. They are from left to right: Liz Bryson, Dept. of Water Resources; Brooke Bingaman, NWS Sacramento; Alan Haynes, NWS CA/NV River Forecast Center; and Michelle Mead, NWS Sacramento. Thank you to all of them for their time and very important information they brought to the table. We talk about the heavy precipitation around the state and whether it’s normal, the runoff, snowpack, recent flooding, impacts north and south of I-80, impacts from localized to widespread flooding, and what you need to keep in mind to stay safe and minimize the rain’s impact on you.
